How to build a sex room season 1 review
Overall it’s a great show, especially if you’re newer to the kink world
Viewer discretion — as seen by the title of this show (How to Build a Sex Room), this show has heavy sexual themes relating to kink, fetish, and BDSM. If you are bothered by these subjects, please read on with caution.
“How to Build a Sex Room” (I’ll shorten it to HTBASR for the sake of this article) is on Netflix. It’s only 8 episodes long and each episode takes on 2 different couples (from all walks of life — gay, polyamorous, lesbian, interracial, etc.) to help give a space in their home a sensual, erotic new makeover. Some rooms are more ‘hardcore’ than others (focusing more heavily on themes of intense bondage and impact play), while others have a focus on much more sensual aspects of sexuality (like sensation play).
I have been in the kink field since 2012. I identify as a switch, meaning I am comfortable as both a Dominant and a submissive. I am polyamorous with multiple partners now as well. I am not normally one to enjoy interior design shows (despite having an undergraduate degree in studio art) primarily because I find them a complete bore. However, this show piqued my interest based on the title alone. The show features an interior designer who has been designing “sex rooms” for many years.
