I've had ex boyfriends accuse me of "emotionally cheating." It frankly makes me roll my eyes out of my skull. To me, the phrase "emotional cheating" is just a man exposing the fact that they feel incredibly insecure and are easily overly jealous/posessive to the point of it being a very toxic thorn in a relationship.

Everyone is going to define cheating "differently". However, asking for advice or having a friendly conversation with another person besides your romantic partner is not "emotional cheating". There's a million and one valid reasons why someone doesn't share absolutely every little thought that crosses their mind with their romantic partner. Everyone has secrets and some things are better kept in the dark.
