Pit bulls are not the most aggressive dogs

We need to stop this myth that pit bulls are continuously aggressive and will hurt others

I have owned a variety of dogs all throughout my life. I have always loved the “pit bull” traditional look and have 4 pitbull mixes now. The reality is “pit bull” isn’t actually a standard breed. They are mutts (mixed breeds) who traditionally have some type of “bull terrier” in them. Our “most pit bull looking” dog of the family (Athena, pictured above laying on her stomach) is the sweetest dog you’d ever meet (she’ll attack…with kisses, and cry when you don’t give her enough attention).

I have recently read an article about a pit bull attack where, despite the dog having hard a warning of “I will hurt other animals”, the petsitter let the dog out in the backyard, no leash, and when a couple came by with a small dog, the pit bull rushed at the gate, took the gate out, and attacked the small animal. Despite this, the pet sitter is not taking any responsibility (again, despite having been given a clear warning from the owner “this dog will attack other animals”). As heartbreaking as this story is (from the dogs’ perspective), once again, this is an owner negligence case (even if the owner, in this case, is a temporary dog handler/babysitter).
