I just finished watching Sex/Life season 1 on Netflix. Now, as someone whose kinky and enjoys watching sex-related entertainment, I’ll admit, the description intrigued me (effectively boiling down to a girl seeing an ex-boyfriend of hers who reignited passions while she had conflicting feelings).

There were serious problems in this show, however. For starters, we learn our main protagonist girl nearly completed a Ph.D. in psychology. Her focus was on monogamy vs polyamory and how she sided more with monogamy. She had a rather sexually promiscuous life before meeting up with her current husband. She feels however her sex life has grown stale since she gave birth to her second child and we learn the husband hasn’t really done anything really intimate with her in many months. Her husband finds and reads her private e-journal on her laptop where she’s graphically fantasizing about sex with one of her ex boyfriends. So, we have our plot set up and the season lasts 8 episodes long.

The drama for this kind of show was tolerable. Until episode 7.

Warning, everything after this gets into spoiler territory. Also, given the very graphic sexual nature of this show — viewer discretion is strongly advised for those who have any kind of aversion or repulsion towards sexual
